Crevier, Jean

CREVIER, Jean (1904-1976) was born in Montreal on 28 July 1904 and studied architecture at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Montreal where he graduated in 1928. He articled under Viau & Venne and in 1937 formed a partnership with Maurice Payette (see list of works under Payette & Crevier). They worked together for four years, and after WWII Crevier formed a new partnership in Montreal with Yves Belanger in 1946. From 1949 the firm was known as Crevier, Belanger, Lemieux & Mercier; a full list of works by the firm executed in the modernist idiom can be found in the Quebec architectural journal ARQ, No. 78, April 1994, 21. Crevier died in Montreal on 30 October 1976 (obit. Gazette [Montreal], 2 Nov. 1976, 20; biog. and port. Biographies Canadiennes Francaises, 1960, 184-5)
