Cormack, George | Biographical Dictionary of Architects in Canada

CORMACK, George (fl. 1867-78) designed the Ontario Bank at WHITBY, ONT. 'the plans for which were all drawn and specifications made out by Mr. Cormack, our townsman, under whose superintendence the work was carried out' (Whitby Chronicle, 24 Oct. 1867, 2, descrip.). In 1869 he was 'the architect and builder' of the Prebyterian Church, WHITBY, ONT. (Whitby Chronicle, 23 Sept. 1869, 2, descrip.). He also built (and presumably designed) a residence for James Johnston, Green Street, WHITBY, ONT. during the same year (Whitby Chronicle, 23 Sept. 1869, 2). Cormack was still active as an architect, builder and valuator in 1878 (Whitby Gazette, 26 Jan. 1878, 1, advert.)
