Chevalier, Camille

CHEVALIER, Camille (1909-1974) of Montreal was born there on 9 February 1909 and graduated from the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Montreal in 1936. He joined the P.Q.A.A. in June 1938 and opened an office in Val d'Or, Que. in 1939. His works there include the design of a Roman Catholic school on Commercial Avenue, VAL D'OR, QUE., 1939 (C.R., lxx, 17 May 1939, 33) and another Roman Catholic School, 3rd Avenue, VAL D'OR, QUE. in 1940 (C.R., liii, 21 Feb. 1940, 96). By 1942 he had relocated in Montreal and maintained a practice there until he joined Hydro Quebec as a staff architect after 1960. He died in Montreal on 11 January 1974 (inf.
