Cauchon, Joseph E.

CAUCHON, Joseph E. (1883-1935) was born in Manitoba on 14 June 1883 and educated in Ontario. He claimed to have received "...a literary and technical education at Toronto University", but this cannot be confirmed in records at that institution. He commenced practice as an architect in Port Arthur, Ont. in 1908 and moved to Edmonton, Alta. in 1912 where he was in partnership with Roland M. Van Tyne. In 1915 Cauchon was recorded as being on active service with Canadian Forces overseas, where he attained the rank of Captain, but no reference to his work can be found after this date. Cauchon moved to California before 1930 and died at Monrovia, a suburb of Los Angeles, on 27 March 1935 (obituary Edmonton Journal, 2 April 1935, 12; biog. Edmonton Capital, 25 Sept. 1912, Progress Number; Canada, 1901 Census, Winnipeg No. 12, SD Ward No. 2, B-9, 4). He should not confused with the Ottawa town planner Joseph Eusebe Noulan Cauchon (1872-1935).
