Caron, Jean Louis

CARON, Jean Louis (1913-1983), son of Jules Caron and a member of the Caron architectural family dynasty, was born in Priceville, Que. on 28 March 1913 and attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Montreal from 1935 to 1942. He trained under his father and spent his summers working in his father's office from 1937 until 1942, then opened his own office in Trois Rivieres in 1945. He continued to practise there until his death on 8 September 1983 (obit. Le Nouvelliste [Trois Rivieres], 9 Sept. 1983; inf. Province of Quebec Assoc. of Architects; biog. and list of works A. Caron-Dricot, Les Caron: Une Dynastie d'architectes depuis 1867, 1997, 143-54; 286-8). The Archives Nationales du Quebec at Trois Rivieres holds a major collection of architectural drawings by J.L. Caron prepared between 1945 and 1983.
