Duck, Henry Frederick

DUCK, Henry Frederick (1862-1922), son of John Duck of Morpeth, Ont., was born there on 29 March 1862 and articled with William Scott of Detroit, with Langley, Langley & Burke of Toronto, and with Henry I. Cobb and F.W. Perkins in Chicago. He opened an office in Ridgetown, Ont. in 1885 (Chatham Tri-Weekly Planet, 27 Feb. 1885, 4) and was one of the founding members of the Ontario Assoc. of Architects in 1890. He was active in Kent County until 1894 when he moved to Deseronto, Ont. to join Rathburn Co. as production supervisor of architectural terra cotta. He moved to London, Engl. in 1903 after accepting an appointment as manager for Milliken Bros. General Contractors of New York City (C.A.B., xvi, June 1903, x), but by 1908 he had relocated to Los Angeles, Calif. where he died on 9 June 1922 (biog.
