DALES, Benjamin (fl. 1862-65) was active in Hamilton, Ont. from c. 1862 where he was in partnership with William W. Fitzgerald as 'Architects & Engineers' (Mitchell's Hamilton & Wentworth Co. Directory, 1865-66, 235). In 1862 their firm designed a notable Gothic Revival residence for Arthur Battersby, PORT DOVER, ONT., still extant on the high point of Prospect Street in that town. The original drawings for the house, signed 'Dales & Fitzgerald' and dated 24 Febraury 1862, are in the possession of the current owner Mr. Stefan Gadatsy (inf. Fred P. Vermeulen, Nanticoke, Ont.)
