Evans, George Norris

EVANS, George Norris (1889-1964), son of Enoch Evans, was born in Walsall, England on 7 June 1889 and trained under his father from 1906. In 1910 he accompanied his father to Canada and later assisted him in establishing the practice of E. Evans & Son in Vancouver in 1912. He served with the Royal Canadian Engineers during WWI and after returning to the office in 1920 he handled much of the design responsibility for projects planned by the firm (see list of works under E. Evans & Son). He was elected President of the A.I.B.C. for two consecutive terms in 1943 and 1944, and continued to practice until 1961. He died in Vancouver on 19 January 1964 (death notice Vancouver Sun, 20 Jan. 1964, 23; obit. R.A.I.C. Journal, xli, May 1964, 14; inf. Architectural Inst. of British Columbia; D.
