Noad, Frederick

NOAD, Frederick (1882-1969) came to Toronto in 1925 from the United States where he had worked as a draftsman, job site superintendent and specification writer. Born in London, England on 27 September 1882 he was educated in elementary and secondary schools there but did not receive any formal university education. After arriving in Toronto he assisted in the offices of Burden & Gouinlock (1925-26), with Catto & Catto (1926) and with Charles B. Dolphin (1927-28). Noad opened his own office in Toronto in March 1928 and later prepared designs for several ecclesiastical clients. He retired from practice after 1942 and moved to Los Angeles, Calif. He later died at Hoodsport [near Olympia], Washington State on 28 June 1969 (inf. from Ontario Assoc. of Architects)
