Martin, Cyril Frederick

MARTIN, Cyril Frederick (1887- ) was born in Birmingham and articled there with Philip Chatwin. He arrived in Toronto in 1910 and spent two years working as a draftsman in the offices of the Canadian Bank of Commerce working under the Chief Architect for the bank, Victor Horsburgh. In 1912 he became a staff architect for the rival Bank of Toronto, designing several branches for the bank in smaller Ontario towns. In 1914 or 1915 he left Canada and returned to England and after 1919 was a member of the firm of Martin, Martin & Ward in Birmingham until after 1931 (inf. Ontario Assoc. of Architects)
