Marsden, William Henry Alban

MARSDEN, William Henry Alban (1868-1953), one of the founding members of the Royal Architectural Inst. of Canada in 1907, was born in Moscow, Russia on 12 April 1868 and articled in Manchester, Engl. with the firm of Maxwell & Tuke from 1886 to 1892. He came to Canada in 1893 and worked in Winnipeg where he assisted S. Frank Peters (in 1894-95), J.H.G. Russell (in 1905-06) and represented the Winnipeg office of H.C. Stone of Montreal (in 1905-06). He then moved to Calgary to manage the office of W.M. Dodd (in 1906-08). The remainder of his career was spent in British Columbia, but his works there have yet to be indentified. He died in Vancouver on 5 October 1953 (death notice The Sun [Vancouver], 7 Oct. 1953, 36; inf. Gordon Fulton, Ottawa)
