Quennell, Charles Henry Bourne

QUENNELL, Charles Henry Bourne (1872-1935), FRIBA, was active in London, England where he is best known for his country and suburban houses erected in many locations in the southern counties. He was also active as the author who produced a widely circulated book in 1906 entitled 'Modern Suburban Homes'. The interiors of this Georgian Revival design appeared in Canadian Homes and Gardens, x, May 1933, 22-25, and are the epitome of the style which strongly influenced much of Canadian residential design in the 1930's. A major appraisal of the career and work of Quennell written by Elizabeth McKellar was published in Architectural History [London], Vol. 50, 2007, pp. 211-46.
