PREFONTAINE, Alfred (1865-1945) was active in Montreal from 1890 where he registered with the Province of Quebec Assoc. of Architects in August 1895. By 1905 he had moved to Longueuil, Que. and maintained an office there until after 1915. The Archives Nationales du Quebec at Montreal holds a small collection of his original drawings dating from 1892 onward (ANQM, CAR 40/5). These records include several stylistic design alternatives for a group of houses on St. Charles Street in Longueuil dated 1892. Prefontaine died at Longueuil, Que. on 23 March 1945.
