Perrin, Winfield Monroe

PERRIN, Winfield Monroe (1868-1956) was born in Rochester, N.Y. on 4 April 1868 and was active there from 1885 onward. He moved to Montreal in 1891 and opened his own office. The following year he submitted an entry in the competition for the British Columbia Parliament Buildings in Victoria (M. Segger, The British Columbia Parliament Buildings, 1979, 83), but his scheme was not among the finalists. His practice included preparation of designs for a variety of institutional and ecclesiastical structures, but he was '....especially prominent in connection with residential work' (Gazette [Montreal], 5 June 1897, 15, with list of works). No references to his activities has been found after 1904. He is likely the same "Winfield Monroe Perrin " who died in Los Angeles, Calif. on 4 November 1956.
