Rutley, William Frederick

RUTLEY, William Frederick (1855-1921), brother of Thomas J. Rutley, was born in Toronto on 23 March 1855 and moved to Chatham during his childhood. He practised there from 1878 until 1885, then moved to Toronto to take up a career as a draftsman and engineer with Smead, Dowd Ltd., one of the leading firms in the development of central heating systems for large commercial and institutional buildings in the late 19th century. By 1900 he had started his own firm in Toronto, the W.F.
