Roy, J. Samuel

ROY, J. Samuel (1895-1985) of Moncton, N.B. was born at St. Mary's, N.B. on 18 May 1895. He was educated at Bouctouche Public School and later went to Boston, Mass. where he attended courses in architecture. After serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWI he returned to Boston to complete his architectural studies in 1920. On 1 March 1921 Roy opened his own office in Moncton and later worked as an assistant to Rene Frechet and as a staff architect for the Irving Oil Co. In 1930 Roy designed an Exhibition Building and Skating Rink on the Exhibtion Grounds, MONCTON, N.B. (Charlottetown Guardian, 4 July 1930, 7, descrip.; C.R., xliv, 16 July 1930, 61, t.c.). He also prepared plans for St Therese Roman Catholic Church, Acadia Avenue, DIEPPE, N.B., 1949 (C.R., lxii, April 1949, 155).
