Ritchie, Archibald

RITCHIE, Archibald (1838-1905) was active in Mount Forest, Ont. where he sustained a career as architect and contractor for more than twenty-five years. Born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland on 2 February 1838 he came to Canada in 1871 and moved to Mount Forest shortly after. His best known work was a distinctive Queen Anne design for the Mount Forest High School (1887). Ritchie died in Mount Forest on 4 May 1905 (obit. The Confederate [Mount Forest], 11 May 1905, 1)
