RIDDLE, George Kenneth ( -1971) was active in London, Ont. from 1932 and formed a partnership with John V. Connor in 1934. Their firm was favoured with many commissions for private residences, often in the fashionable Tudor or Elizabethan Revival style that the firm had all but abandoned after 1940. After WWII the firm executed dozens of modernist designs for the Dominon Food Store Co., a major supermarket chain, often situated in suburban locations. Riddle died in London on 17 May 1961 (death notice Free Press [London], 17 May 1971, 25; inf. Ontario Assoc. of Architects). The London Regional Art Gallery holds a collection of architectural drawings by the firm documenting more than 150 projects executed between 1932 and 1973.
