Reath, William B.

REATH, William B. (1856-1904), of St. Thomas, Ont., was active there as an architect and contractor. Born in Dundas, Ont., he arrived in St. Thomas about 1875. In 1879 he 'prepared the plans' for the Roman Catholic School, Talbot Street at White Street, ST. THOMAS, ONT. (Catholic Record [London], 31 Jan. 1879, 5, descrip.). He was both '.......the architect and builder' for the St. Thomas Pipe & Foundry Co. complex south of Wellington Street, ST. THOMAS, ONT. (London Free Press, 17 June 1890, 8). One of his last works was a Gothic design for St. Columban's Roman Catholic Church, Centre Road at Bornish Drive, BORNISH, ONT.; 1902; still standing in 2018 (Catholic Record [London], 14 June 1902, 8; and 10 Jan. 1903, 8, descrip.). Reath died in St. Thomas on 4 June 1904 (obit. Evening Journal [St. Thomas], 6 June 1904, 1)
