Thomas, Verid Charles

THOMAS, Verid Charles (1885-1963) was born in Markdale, Ont. on 9 October 1885 and graduated from the School of Practical Science at the University of Toronto in 1908. He took private studies in France and Germany in 1910 then returned to Canada and joined the Ontario Power Co. where he designed several power house buildings in 1912-13. He opened an office in Niagara Falls, Ont. in 1923. His best known works there were executed for the Niagara Falls Board of Education, and include the Collegiate Institute, Memorial Public School, and the Junior High School. Thomas died in Niagara Falls in 1963 (inf. Ontario Assoc. of Architects)
