Temple, Eric Edward

TEMPLE, Eric Edward (1884-1959) was born in England and attended courses at the Architectural Association in London. He trained there with George Baines & Son and took particular interest in ecclesiastical design. From 1908 to 1912 he was chief assistant to Francis S. Swales, then emigrated to Canada in late 1912 and took a position with Nobbs & Hyde and with **Barott & Blackader ** in Montreal. He joined the federal Dept. of Public Works in October 1913 and remained there until his retirement in 1947. He also worked on independent commissions including a refined Gothic scheme for the Memorial Chapel within St. John's Anglican Church, Elgin Street at Somerset Street, OTTAWA, ONT., c. 1930.
