Scott, Harry MacNaughton

SCOTT, Harry MacNaughton (1883-1958) of Fort William, Ont. was born on 14 May 1883 at Blarney, Cork Co., Ireland and was educated at Ulster Provincial School in Lisburn and at the Royal Academical Institution in Belfast. He served an apprenticeship with Young & MacKenzie of Belfast from 1900 to 1907 and emigrated to Canada in late 1907. He joined the staff of the local Winnipeg office of Darling & Pearson but left that city in 1908 and moved to Fort William where he became a draftsman with Stinson & Hood. In September 1909 Scott formed a new partnership with William Hood (see list of works under Hood & Scott), and continued to work with him until 1914 when the firm was dissolved. Scott then opened his own office and continued to work under his own name until after 1950. He died at Fort William on 27 March 1958 (obituary and port. in the Daily Times-Journal [Fort William], 27 March 1958, 1 and 17; News Chronicle [Port Arthur], 27 March 1958, 5; inf.
