Wolfe, Gordon Welsley

WOLFE, Gordon Welsley (1890-1959), born in Dartmouth, N.S. on 24 February 1890, was active in Halifax, N.S. where he trained as a draftsman with a local firm in that city (Dartmouth Patriot, 20 Sept. 1913, 5). He worked for the Halifax Disaster Relief Commission and had charge of important rebuilding work in 1917 and 1918 (Morning Herald [Halifax], 24 Sept. 1918, 7). In 1919 he drew plans for additions and alterations to St. Peter's Hall, DARTMOUTH, N.S. (Morning Herald [Halifax], 18 April 1919, 3, t.c.). That same year he designed Tabernacle Baptist Church, Robie Street, HALIFAX, N.S., 1919-20 (Morning Herald [Halifax], 23 Sept. 1919, 2; Evening Mail [Halifax], 29 Nov. 1919, 21, illus. & detailed descrip.). Wolfe left Halifax in late 1921 and moved to Lexington, Massachusetts where he was recorded in 1924-1930. He later died in Jacksonville, Fla. on 12 August 1959 (inf. Garry D. Shutlak, Halifax).
