Wojahn, Erich W.

WOJAHN, Erich William (1887-1927) was a native of Stillwater, Minnesota who obtained his architectural experience in offices in the St. Paul and Minneapolis area including Olin H. Round (for two years), for Mark Fitzpatrick (for one year) and with F.W. Kinney (for two years). He arrived in Prince Albert, Sask. in early February 1911 to work on designs for 'Keyhole Castle', an elaborate and mannered private residence for Samuel MacLeod, First Avenue, PRINCE ALBERT, SASK., 1912-13 (Sask. Assoc. of Architects, Historic Architecture of Saskatchewan, 1986, 154, illus.; L. Maitland, Queen Anne Revival Style in Canadian Architecture, 1990, l55, illus.). It is thought that Wojahn was brought to Prince Albert to complete this house, his only commission in Saskatchewan; his name last appears in local directories in 1914. He later moved to Tacoma, Washington and died there on 28 October 1927 at the age of 40 years (inf. Sask. Assoc. of Architects).
