Amos, Pierre Charles

AMOS, Pierre Charles (1897-1976) was the son of Louis A. Amos of Montreal, and joined his father in practise from 1925 until the death of the latter in 1948. Born in Montreal he was educated at Mount St. Louis College and entered the School of Architecture at McGill University in 1915. His studies there were interrupted by events of WW1, and he enrolled at the Royal Naval College at Greenwich, England before serving with the Royal Navy from 1916 to 1919. Amos returned to Montreal in 1920 and graduated with a degree in Architecture from McGill University in 1925, and in that same year entered the office of his father (see list of works under L.A. & P.C. Amos). He took over much of the day-to-day practise after 1935 when his father was seriously injured in an automobile accident, and was elected as President of Province of Quebec Association of Architects in 1950. He continued to practise until the mid-1960's and died in Montreal on 26 November 1976 (death notice in La Presse [Montreal], 27 Nov. 1976, D22; portrait at the Province of Quebec Association of Architects, Montreal; inf.
