Westmacott, Alexander George Edward

WESTMACOTT, Alexander George Edward (fl. 1874-80) of Toronto articled with William G. Storm from Sept. 1874 to 1879. While serving his apprenticeship he designed a 'Norman style' rectory for St. George's Anglican Church, Woolwich Street, GUELPH, ONT., (Guelph Daily Mercury, 28 July 1876, 1, descrip; 14 Nov. 1877, 1 & 2, descrip.; Dominion Churchman [Toronto], 15 Feb. 1877, 79-80, descrip.). It is possible that Westmacott's mentor W.G. Storm may have contributed to this design. Westmacott last appears in the Toronto Directory in 1880 with his own office in the Equity Chambers.
