Walker, James

WALKER, James (fl. 1890-1910) was a talented Toronto draftsman who served an apprenticeship with Knox, Elliot & Jarvis in 1890-91. He was awarded First Prize by the Canadian Architect & Builder for his designs and details of a 'House of Moderate Cost' (C.A.B., iii, April 1890, 46, illus.). In 1907 Walker designed the residence for Geoge C. Loveys, Rusholme Road, TORONTO, ONT. (Toronto b.p. 7406, 8 May 1907). He is almost certainly the architect of the same name who prepared a design for the Public School, UXBRIDGE, ONT., 1910 (C.R., xxiv, 9 Nov. 1910, 26), and during that same year drew the plans for the B.F. Harvey Co. Warehouse, Dundas Street West at Ritchie Avenue, TORONTO, ONT. (Toronto b.p. 21371, 16 June 1910).
