Palmer, Frederick A.

PALMER, Frederick A. (1865 – c. 1905), a native of England, born there in 1865 and he was brought to Canada by his family in 1867. His name first appears as an architect in the Toronto City Directory in 1887, and he continued to live and work there until 1894 when he moved to the United States. By 1901 he had return to Canada and opened an office in Winnipeg, Man., listing his 7 years practice in Toronto, and 3 years of experience in the U.S.A. (Manitoba Daily Free Press (Winnipeg), 11 July 1901, 9, advert.; inf. Gordon Goldsborough, Winnipeg). His best-known work there was the Romanesque Revival design for Ebenezer Evangelical Lutheran Church, Alexander Street, 1901; still standing in 2023. No information on his activity in Winnipeg has been found after 1905.
