Leeder, Charles Henry

LEEDER, Charles Henry (1894-1960), active in Kingston, Ont. where he began his career as an architect and designer in 1914 at the young age of 20 years. He advertised his services on a daily basis in both The Daily British Whig, and in the Daily Standard (Kingston), and in the City Directory of Kingston, offering to design Hotels, Warehouses, Schools, with Public Buildings a Specialty (City Directory of Kingston, 1914-15, p. 159, full page advert.) Only a few references to his built works have been located. Born in Bracebridge, Ont. on 7 December 1894, no information has been found on his education or training, but he may have learned the building trades in the Kingston area. After 1918 he moved to Winnipeg, Man. and became President of the Leeder Mfr. Co., a producer of electric light generating plants. He moved again, this time to Vancouver, B.C. and later died there on 10 February 1960 (death notice Vancouver Sun, 12 Feb. 1960, 26; inf.
