Carter, Guy Berrington

CARTER, Guy Berrington (1892-1954), active in Toronto, Ont. from 1925 until after 1950. He was born in England on 1 July 1892 and received his education at St. Savior's College, and took courses at the Univ. of Dublin. In 1911 he moved to Boston, Mass. to train in the office of Allan Brunette (in 1911-14), while studying architecture at the Boston College of Arts (in 1911-14). After serving with Canadian Expeditionary Forces during WWI, he moved to Montreal, Que. and joined Canadian Vickers Ltd. as a draftsman (in 1918-20), and with Kennedy Earps Co., Industrial Plant designers, in New York City (1920-25). Carter then moved to Toronto to open his own office, and was active there until after 1950. He died in Toronto on 3 March 1954 (inf. Ontario Assoc. of Architects)
