Pitt, E.W. [or E.D.]

PITT, E.W. [or E.D. PITT ], an architect who lived and worked in Niagara Falls, Ont. from c. 1904 until after 1906, and he was among the first innovators to use reinforced concrete technology for industrial, commercial and institutional buildings in the Niagara Peninsula. In 1907 he formed a partnership in Niagara Falls with T.G, Robinson, a civil engineer (Daily Standard [St. Catharines], 27 May 1907, 5). At this time, it was reported that Pitt was working on a major commission in Toronto for the largest reinforced concrete industrial building in the city, for Clarke & Clarke, Leather Tanners, Christie Street, north of Dupont Street, Toronto, 1907; demol. (Daily Standard [St. Catharines], 27 May 1907, 5). No biographical information has been found on this architect.
