Harris, John Ogilvy

HARRIS John Ogilvy (1884-1953), active in Montreal, Que. where he was credited with the design in 1910 of a substantial residence costing $25,000 for George Marcil, former Mayor of Notre Dame de Grace. Harris was born in Dundee, Scotland on 30 August 1884 and he graduated from the Dundee Technical Institute after 1900. He emigrated to Canada before 1908 and was recorded as an architect in Montreal in 1910-14, then joined the Prov. of Quebec Association of Architects in 1917. His membership lapsed after 1930, but he was reinstated in 1947. Harris died in Montreal on 7 June 1953 (death notice The Gazette [Montreal], 8 June 1953, 31; inf.
