Beaton, Malcolm J.

BEATON, Malcolm J. (1879-1970), active in Vancouver B.C. in partnership with Angus B. McNeill as architects in 1911-1912. Their names were also recorded as owners of a real estate company, and it is unclear if they were acting as developers who owned land and prepared designs for their own projects (see the Vancouver City Directory, 1911, 469, and 1912, 555). Neither Beaton or McNeill appear as members of the Architectural Inst. of British Columbia, and no references to their work have been found after 1913. Beaton was born in Paisley, Bruce County, Ontario on 1 April 1879 and arrived in Vancouver in 1910. He later moved to Ogdensburg, N.Y. before 1920, and later died there on 23 May 1970.
