Baldwin, Kenneth Joseph Morris

BALDWIN, Kenneth Joseph Morris (1874 – c. 1925) of Toronto, Ont. was one 7 architects and designers invited to enter the architectural competition in 1920 for the Memorial Arch at the north end of the campus of Royal Military College in Kingston, Ont. Baldwin was a student at R.M.C. from 1892 to 1897 and may have applied for permission to submit an entry on the basis of his connection with this College. In 1920, he was listed as a draughtsman working in the office of the prominent Toronto architect William F. Sparling (Toronto City Directory, 1920, p. 535), and his design was later exhibited in Kingston, Montreal and Ottawa. The competition was won by John M. Lyle of Toronto. Other competitors included leading Canadian architects such as Louis Amos (Montreal), J. Omer Marchand (Montreal), Fetherstonhaugh & McDougall (Montreal), Sproatt & Rolph (Toronto), and Woodman & Cubbidge of Winnipeg (inf.
