Secord, Herbert Ferris

SECORD, Herbert Ferris (1890-1949), partner in the prominent Toronto architectural firm of Molesworth, West & Secord from 1918 to 1949, he was active in the following offices:

Secord was born in Toronto on 13 January 1890 and he graduated from the Dept. of Architecture at the Faculty of Applied Science, Univ. of Toronto in 1910. He trained in the offices of Eustace Bird and Wickson & Gregg in Toronto, and in the New York office of Carrere & Hastings. Secord appears to have been working independently from 1913, but by 1917 he was assisting George N. Molesworth to prepare plans for the major additions to the Royal College of Dental Surgeons on College Street in Toronto. He was invited to join in the new partnership of Molesworth, West & Secord in 1918, and remained with this firm for the next 30 years (see list of works under G.N. Molesworth).
