Hornsby, John Thomson

HORNSBY, John Thomson (1887 - 1963) was born in Glasgow on 28 February 1887 and obtained his architectural education at the Technical School there. He came to Canada before 1920 and opened an office in Lindsay, Ont. In 1923 he took over the office of William H. Barry in Peterborough and formed a partnership there with John T. Allan in 1924. Hornsby operated the Lindsay branch of the firm until 1928 when he moved to Peterborough to join Allan and worked with him until 1932. After 1950 Hornsby was a staff member of the Architectural Division of Air Services Branch of the Dept. of Transport in Ottawa. He died in Ottawa on 5 September 1963 (death notice Ottawa Citizen, 6 Sept. 1963, 32).
