Douglas, William C.

DOUGLAS, William C. (1859-1932), an architect and builder in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia who may have been responsible for the design and construction of dozens of buildings throughout the Pictou County region. He was born in Nova Scotia on 22 September 1859, and he was credited with the design of buildings in the region from as early as 1895 up until 1907. According to records of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court, he was also involved in a legal case in 1901 in connection with the design of the High School in Westville, N.S. No information on the works of W.C. Douglas has been found after 1907. He appears to have moved to British Columbia after 1900, and he died at Victoria, B.C. on 9 December 1932. His obituary, published in the Victoria Daily Times, 9 Dec. 1932 p. 15 states that he was an architect and builder (inf. Garry Shutlak, PANS, Halifax).
