Grant, Daniel

GRANT, Daniel (fl. 1879-1908), of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia was successful in sustaining a career as an architect and builder for nearly 30 years, and he may have been the designer of many structures still standing in the region of Pictou County. He was recorded as an architect and builder in Teare's Directory of Pictou & New Glasgow of 1879-80, p. 125. However, by 1884 he had moved to Halifax (City Directory of Halifax, 1884-1885) and may have been practising there. By 1886 he had returned to New Glasgow, offering clients “Plans & Specifications for Any Kind of Building desired” (advert. in the Eastern Chronicle [New Glasgow] from July 1889 to October 1891). He was still living and working there as late at 1907 (McAlpines Nova Scotia Directory, 1907-08).
