Murdoch, Robert

MURDOCH, Robert (1865-1941), active in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario where he was partner in a cross-border architectural office with Edward Demar, as Demar & Murdoch, in 1907 to 1912. During this period, he operated the Ontario branch of their office, serving clients on the Canadian side of the border, while Demar remained in Sault. Ste. Marie, Michigan, and serving American clients. After the dissolution of the partnership in late 1912, Murdoch continued to work under his own name until late 1915. Murdoch was born in Lucknow, Ontario on 18 January 1865 and may have been educated and trained in Ontario, but no information has been found on his early career before 1907. He later died in Sault Ste. Marie on 19 November 1941 (death notice Sault Star, 19 Nov. 1941, 2).
