Hopkins, Lloyd Wilbert

HOPKINS, Lloyd Wilbert (1908-1994) was born in Carbonear, Newfoundland on 26 July 1908 and was active in St. John's, Nfld. where he held the position of Chief Architect of the Department of Public Works in that British colony from January 1942 until July 1949. He took over from his predecessor Charles W. Udle and remained in this post until it was abolished when Newfoundland joined Confederation in 1949. Hopkins then became local supervising architect for the federal Department of Public Works. He died in Newfoundland on 19 March 1994 (biography and portrait in the Newfoundland Who's Who, 1952, 49)
