Comber, Clarence Sydney

COMBER, Clarence Sydney (1912-1998), was the son of Sydney Comber, a well-known architect in Montreal, Que. and a specialist in the design of industrial bakery and dairy buildings across Canada. Clarence S. Comber was born in Montreal on 6 March 1912 and he graduated from the School of Architecture at McGill University in 1937. During this period, he trained in his father's office from 1934 to 1938. He became a junior partner in the office of Comber & Son, Architects in 1940 (see list of works under the entry for Sydney Comber) They were joined by a third partner William R. Mack in 1953. Clarence Comber retired after 1970 and died at Scarborough, Ont. on 18 April 1998 (death notice The Gazette [Montreal], 19 April 1998, D 14).
