Somerville, Frank Linn

SOMERVILLE, Frank Linn (1854-1914) was first recorded as an architect in Brockville, Ontario in 1887 (J.F. Kimball, Brockville Directory, 1886-87, 86), but no references to his works there have been found. By 1891 he had moved to Peterborough, where he was listed only as a civil engineer. Within two years he had relocated to nearby Lindsay, Ontario where he designed several institutional and educational buildings. Born in Wilmslow, Cheshire, England in 1854, he was working as an architect in the town of Pownal Fee, Cheshire in 1881, and appears to left for Canada within a few years. After leaving Lindsay, Ont. in 1896, Somerville later moved to Toronto and died there on 16 July 1914.
