MacDonald, Lloyd George

MacDONALD, Lloyd George (1909- ) , active in Edmonton, Alberta in partnership with his older brother Frederick H. MacDonald during the period of 1948-49. Born in Calgary, Alta on 10 December 1909, he graduated from the University of Alberta in Edmonton in 1936 and worked as an assistant in his brother’s office from 1937 until the outbreak of WWII. He served with the Canadian Army in Europe during the war as Commander of the 10th Field Squadron, 5th Div. Engineers, and after 1945 he moved to Toronto to join Marani & Morris, Architects as Chief Assistant Architect for the housing programme called Housing Enterprises of Canada Ltd. In 1947 he returned to Edmonton to join his brother in the new firm of MacDonald & MacDonald, Architects (see entry under F.H. MacDonald). No information on his activity after 1950 has been found (biog. R.A.I.C. Journal, xxv, Nov. 1948, 432; inf. Ontario Association of Architects, Application for Membership, June 1947).
