Hill, James

HILL, James (1861- c. 1887) is an obscure figure who practised in St. Thomas, Ont. from 1882. He offered 'plans of all kinds of public and private buildings' (St. Thomas Times, 9 Feb. 1882,1, advert.) and appears to have maintained a business in Manitoba. In November of 1883 Hill was noted to have 'returned from Winnipeg and will resume the practise of his profession in this city' (St. Thomas Daily Times, 30 Nov. 1883, 4). In 1885 he formed a partnership with William Reath, and the office of Hill & Reath was active until late 1887 (St. Thomas Directory for 1886, 93).
