Knight, John H.

KNIGHT, John H. (1845- c. 1921) was recorded as an architect in the town of Wetaskiwin, Alberta from 1906 until 1921. Born in New York State in August 1845, he emigrated to Canada rather late in his career, in 1905, at the age of 60 years. Census records from the United States in 1900 list him as a builder, and he likely provided his own designs for the buildings which he constructed. In 1911 he prepared a Gothic design for Zion Lutheran Church in Wetaskawin, and later that year he provided the plans and specifications for major alterations to the City Hall & Fire Hall in that town. He was an early member of the Alberta Association of Architects, and was still residing in Wetaskiwin in 1921.
