Lacroix, Raoul

LACROIX, Raoul (1874-1936) was active in Montreal, Que for his entire career. Born there on 2 February 1874, he was educated and trained in that city, and became a registered member of the Province of Quebec Association of Architects in September 1898. In late 1902 or early 1903 he formed a partnership with Pierre Piche, an engineer by training. They collaborated together for at least three years, but by 1908 Lacroix was again working under his own name. Only a few references to his architectural work can be found after 1912, but he later became a member of the Town Planning Commission in Montreal (R.A.I.C. Journal, viii, Jan. 1931, 38), and a member of the Public Buildings Commission of Montreal. He also served as secretary of the P.Q.A.A., and was later chairman of the Board of Examiners of the Association.

Lacroix died at Rosemere, Quebec on 5 July 1936 (obit. & port. La Presse [Montreal], 6 July 1936, 13; Daily Commercial News [Toronto], 9 July 1936, 6; Le Devoir [Montreal], 10 July 1936, 4; obit.
