Cameron, Frank Merrill

CAMERON, Frank Merrill (1906-1947), active in Ottawa, Ont. and partner in the firm of Hazelgrove, Lithwick & Cameron from 1945 to 1947. Cameron was born in Ottawa on 25 March 1906 and was educated at Lisgar Collegiate. He served an apprenticeship with an Ottawa architectural firm from 1922 to 1926, and he may have later served as an assistant to A.J. Hazelgrove during the period from 1930 to 1944. In 1945 he was invited to become a full partner in the firm of Hazelgrove & Lithwick (see list of works under A.J. Hazelgrove), and their office received several commissions for educational, commercial and industrial buildings over the next two years. Cameron died suddenly on 30 April 1947 at age 41 (obituary Ottawa Journal, 1 May 1947, 25; obit. R.A.I.C. Journal, xxiv, June 1947, 219; inf. from Ontario Assoc. of Architects). After his death, the firm name reverted to Hazelgrove & Lithwick, and they continued to practise until after 1960
