Arnold, Everett Blake

ARNOLD, Everett Blake (1882- c. 1945) was a partner in the Chatham, Ontario architectural firm of J.L. Wilson & Son & Arnold (see list of works under James L. Wilson). Arnold was born in Kent County, Ont. on 2 February 1882 and was educated there. He may have received his architectural training in Chatham under T.J. Rutley, and collaborated with him in July 1907 on major alterations to the Grand Central Hotel in Chatham. In late 1907 he was invited to join the firm of James L. Wilson & Son, and became a full partner in that office that same year. When Wilson’s son left Ontario in 1909 and moved across the border to Fairgrove, Michigan, Arnold appears to have followed suit, and in July 1910 he moved to Detroit to establish his own architectural office there. He may have been related to Ernest W. Arnold, an architect in Battle Creek, Michigan, in 1913-14 (William T. Comstock, Architect's Directory, 1913-14, 69). He was still recorded as a registered architect with the Michigan Society of Architects as late as 1942.
