Desjardins, Romeo J.

DESJARDINS, Romeo J. (1915-. c. 1970), active in Montreal, Que. where his best-known work is the Palais du Commerce (1950-51), an early example of a large exhibition hall and merchandise mart for the display and sale of products produced by Quebec industries and manufacturers. Born in Montreal, Que on 24 May 1915, he studied architecture at the local Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Montreal and graduated in June 1939, and later joined the Province of Quebec Assoc. of Architects in 1944. Desjardins opened his own office in 1946 and completed commissions for Truscon Steel Co. Ltd., for the Foundation Company of Canada, for the Canadian Car & Foundry Ltd., and for works at Dorval Airport in Montreal.
