Campbell, Alexander Bennett

CAMPBELL, Alexander Bennett (fl. 1897-1900), an obscure figure active in the British Columbia interior from 1897 where he was recorded as an architect in Greenwood City (B.C., Sessional Papers, 1899, Voter’s List, 479). He had worked as an architect in Winnipeg, Man. before 1897, and arrived in Greenwood City in early March 1897 (Boundary Creek Times [Greenwood], 13 March 1897, 5). He may have been lured to this region by the mining boom in the area, and local newspapers confirm that he was successful in obtaining several architectural commissions within the period of 1898-99. By 1900, he had disappeared, and no biographical information on his name has been found.
